Hoar Hoar, a. [OE. hor, har, AS. h[=a]r; akin to Icel. h[=a]rr, and to OHG. h[=e]r illustrious, magnificent; cf. Icel. Hei[eth] brightness of the sky, Goth. hais torch, Skr. k[=e]tus light, torch.
