Granary Gran"a*ry, n.; pl. {Granaries}. [L. granarium, fr. granum grain. See {Garner}.] 1. A storehouse or repository for grain, esp. after it is thrashed or husked; a cornhouse. [1913 Webster]

2. Hence: (Fig.), A region fertile in grain; in this sense, equivalent to {breadbasket}, used figuratively; as, Ukraine, the granary of the Soviet Union. [1913 Webster +PJC]
