Dormant Dor"mant, n. [See {Dormant}, a.] (Arch.) A large beam in the roof of a house upon which portions of the other timbers rest or `` sleep.'' --Arch. Pub. Soc. -- Called also {dormant tree}, {dorman tree}, {dormond}, and {dormer}. --Halliwell.
