Hat Hat (h[a^]t), n. [AS. h[ae]t, h[ae]tt; akin to Dan. hat, Sw. hatt, Icel. hattr a hat, h["o]ttr hood, D. hoed hat, G. hut, OHG. huot, and prob. to L. cassis helmet. [root]13.
