Scitamineous Scit`a*min"e*ous (?; 277), a. [NL. scitamineosus, fr. Scitamineae, fr. L. scitamentum a delicacy, dainty.] (Bot.) Of or pertaining to a natural order of plants ({Scitamine[ae]}), mostly tropical herbs, including the ginger, Indian shot, banana, and the plants producing turmeric and arrowroot. [1913 Webster]
