Schizomycetes Schiz`o*my*ce"tes, n. pl., [NL., fr. Gr. ? to split + ?, -?, a fungus.] (Biol.) An order of Schizophyta, including the so-called fission fungi, or bacteria. See {Schizophyta}, in the Supplement. [1913 Webster]
