Overlay O`ver*lay", v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Overlaid}; p. pr. & vb. n. {Overlaying}.] 1. To lay, or spread, something over or across; hence, to cover; to overwhelm; to press excessively upon. [1913 Webster]
