Noctuid Noc"tu*id, n. [From L. nox, noctis, night.] (Zo["o]l.) Any one of numerous moths of the family {Noctuid[ae]}, or {Noctu[ae]lit[ae]}, as the cutworm moths, and armyworm moths; -- so called because they fly at night. -- a. Of or pertaining to the noctuids, or family {Noctuid[ae]}. [1913 Webster]
