Maleic Ma*le"ic, a. [Cf. F. mal['e]ique. See {Malic}.] (Chem.) Pertaining to, or designating, an acid of the ethylene series (maleic acid), metameric with fumaric acid and obtained by heating malic acid. [1913 Webster]
